I’ve been a vendor at the Quechee Balloon and Music Festival several times over the last few years. It’s a ridiculously fun festival with tons to see and do. In 2016 my wife came along to help with the vendor stand so I'd have a little more time to be out photographing the event. On the final day of the festival I had slept in and was awakened by a hot air balloon burner that sounded like it was on top of us. I unzipped the window to our tent to discover quite a few balloons were directly overhead. Seeing that they were traveling in the direction of Dewey Pond I grabbed my gear and jumped in the car to try and head them off. I’d never seen anything like it, balloons several at a time were pouring over the tree tops and drifting over the pond. Finally after three years of photographing the festival everything went right and I was able to score some of my best balloon images to date.
